Hey everyone! So I am home now and have a bunch of meds that I have been prescribed to help my heart.
Apparently I am very weird. I went to my Echocardiogram appointment on Thursday (the start of this little adventure in WTF which immediatly led them to doing an EKG. From there the EKG the cardiologist came in and said that my ejection fraction, which should be around 50-70 was 7. Yeah, not good at all. The words that the cardiologist used were “You should be bed ridden and I have no idea how you are presenting as well as you are”.
He was even more surprised that I was going up and down stairs no problem, had done a aerobic and weight workout that morning no problem, and wasn’t feeling any sort of discomfort. So from there it was off to a hospital room and the next day they did a procedure to run a line in my heart to look for blockages and see if a stint was needed. What came out of that was that one artery was 100% blocked and the others were fine. Still no idea why I am doing so well though. Guess I am weird.
So, medications were prescribed and then observation over the weekend to see how I was doing. My ejection fraction went up the next day to 18 and my pulse and heart rate dropped, which is good. After that it was just being poked and prodded every few hours to make sure everything was working until the released me. Now I have follow up visits, follow up EKGs and ECGs to see how everything is going and if they need to do a stint later or if I can just get by with my med and diet.
Thank you everyone for the prayers. I thank you and thank God for supporting me through this and carrying me through. Bless all of you and I will get back to doing what I do ASAP. Doctor has cleared me to do whatever I feel like doing and to just tone down the work outs for a while.
Glad you’re doing well.
Glad you are home and doing better
Oh buddy I am so glad you are doing better. Acute systolic heart failure is no joke. It’s something I deal with everyday. If you ever have a question please don’t hesitate to reach out.
I think once they get your artery opened up your ejection fraction will improve even further along with the medicine doing the rest.
