I got a question about my Hermes II mech which caused me to pull it up and take a look at it. I did it back in 2022 when I was first getting back into modeling (I had been out of it for about 15 years and had not used Blender before).
Needless to say my first thought was “Geez, I can do a heck of a lot better on that model” so I am. Started on it Thursday and I am now finishing all the variants for the Hermes II. After that is going to be the Hermes and all the ones with that.
So, New Year and Old (as well as new) mechs are on the way
That’s pretty exciting news, really. I was just looking at making a small Kuritan force to showcase C3 capabilities and a HER-4K would be really useful for that.
Nice! Well, I am working on the Hermes now. Hermes II is done and being posed so end of the week it should be out.
I would be curious to hear what aspects you felt like you could improve since you have done more modeling since making these two the first time. What did you notice now that you didn’t see back then?
It’s mostly knowing my tools better and using them more effectively. With the original one I was working from what I knew at the time but, of course, modeling had changed from when I learned it and had become much easier to do lots of details.
So, learning that things that I could not originally do easily way back when could now be done and not break the mode was a game changer as well as having a whole lot of new tools that help speed up not only the process but also the creativity
Thanks for sharing that. Is there a particular tool you’ve gotten or learned to use which seems like a game-changer to you? It’s interesting to hear that the modern software actually helps you feel more creative.
