So who has picked up MW5 Clans and what do you think of it? I have not grabbed it yet since I really wouldn’t have time to play it right now anyway so I might as well wait until I do have time or there is a sale.
I’ve read mixed opinions on it so far. One person said the Mech models were worse than they were in MW4 and another stated that there was a bug in one of the missions that he couldn’t get past. Other reviews were praising it for the gameplay, graphics and overall storyline.
I’ve never really been a fan of the Clans overall. Mercenaries was good for me because I could choose what missions I wanted, go where I wanted and die from my own stupidity. Seems that being Clans would lock you into the military of just following where you are told to go, but you tell me if you like it or not.
Anyway, here’s a picture of the Bandersnatch so far. Going to try to have it done this weekend. The week was pretty busy being in office and the client pass over training and meetings.

Game play is fine. It is enjoyable, but not better then Mercenaries. Story line is total BS. Everything from IS actions prompted the invasion to trying to save indigs as opposed to making them bondsmen. I’m only a half dozen missions into the story line, but all we need is just a little more social engineering and it would be something written by Disney.
Ew, that’s not good at all. Guess I will wait till the price drops before doing anything. I hate giving money for woke stuff.
I tried the gameplay in MW5 and didn’t love it, so I’m definitely giving Clans a miss until I figure out how to make base MW5 feel like something I’ll enjoy playing. This Bandersnatch looks pretty cool so far. I’m curious about your decision to put the side torso LRM launcher where the armour bevel actually cuts across one of the launcher tubes instead of sliding it up or down so it sits across that line. Are you planning on doing just the three stock and one custom variant or making any additional non-canon variants?
MW5 was playable once mods were attached to it. Vanilla mode was, well…. bland.
I thought about trying to move it and decided that I kinda liked the launchers right where they are and the same with the beveled section, it just looked right to me. Was going to do the stock versions but if you have a non-cannon one send it on over, I’ll throw it in since there are only four
Do you have any mod recommendations? I’m very curious what it takes to make that game enjoyable for others. If you’ve played with moving those launchers around and that’s where it looks right, then I’m excited to print and paint it. Just at this design stage it looks like something I would move around if I were doing this. Heck, I might even decide the same thing, I’d just have to look at it.
The biggest mods I use are the “Yet Another…” mods. “Yet Another Equipment Collection”, “Yet Another Mechlab”, “Yet another Weapon”. There is also the Pilot Promotion mod that is pretty good too.
As for the Bandersnatch, I always thought it was an odd mech based on what the design brief nominally was – the LB-X autocannons are very weight-intensive and C-bill costly, neither of which makes sense for a mercenary market to my mind. If you swap down to Ultra 5s with only two ammo bins, yes you lose raw damage but you save net tonnage and a heck of a lot of C-bills. You can upgrade the four front-facing medium lasers to mpulse and slap two more tons of armour on the thing, still run cold pretty much every day of the week, and come in around 400,000 c-bills less and about the same BV.
